Anabayuleti Gamboa, Series Mito Fundacional

Bayu brings us from Mexico his series Mito Fundacional. The theme of her drawings is autobiographical, each stroke corresponds to a personal experience that represents, in a juxtaposed and fantastic narrative, complex emotions and deep desires; each symbol sublimates an encounter, a knowledge, a process, a dream or a challenge. She draws her own identity, she lays herself bare in her pencil drawings, which transport us to labyrinths already lived, his Foundational Myths, developed with great mastery.
The opening will take place on Saturday September 28th 2024, at 6.30 p.m., and the exhibition can be seen at artAmore Sitges until November, 4th.
Bayu defines her work for us:
I believe that as individuals we have (also), the capacity to assume ourselves as a collective entity through our own narratives: we are individuals enriching and endowing the human experience with meaning.
I also think that our personal identities, as well as the Foundational Myths to which we belong, coexist in a dynamic and evolutionary process; the essence and perception of ourselves mutates as we face new experiences, and it seems to me, that something similar happens backwards, that is, towards the past; rarely does the memory of an event manifest itself in the same way, each time we can perceive and reinterpret it ‘with different eyes’ and find ourselves, all of a sudden, in a different present.
In this sense, I conceive my drawings as a mirror as well as a window, in which, when I look into the project, I discover a new meaning; states of mind that interpret reality in unusual and surprising ways, in which I hope the viewer finds a part of his or her own story.
Anabayuleti Gamboa, multidisciplinary artist and lover of applied arts. She created the Made in Bayu brand with which she seeks to re-signify the objects she designs with recycled materials.
Bayu was 23 years old when she started to recycle objects. She was studying plastic arts at the National School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving ‘La Esmeralda’ in Mexico. Since she was a student she has been interested in working with recycled materials and so, she created the brand MADE IN BAYU, whose aim is to encourage a responsible market that bases its structure on the circular economy, the handmade, unique, ethical and sustainable, and to participate in the construction of a culture with environmental awareness and in favour of the common good.
She specializes in the design and creation of accessories, clothing, jewelry and furniture with wasted materials. In her current designs she uses tyre inner tubes that she obtains from vulcanisers, with which she makes bags, accessories, clothes and rugs.
