It’s an event dedicated to raising environmental awareness through art and to attract attention to the problems generated by waste in a fun and festive way. At the same time it promotes local artists and in this way gives support to a creative and sustainable economy.

The program of the festival is centered on creative recycling and includes exhibitions, workshops, music and conferences. Artists and craftspeople who use waste materials in their creations will show their work in Sitges during the days of the festival.

The Festival is organized by Sitges City Council Office for Education and Environmental Promotion of the Management of Environmental Services of the Diputació de Barcelona, in collaboration with Drap-Art, Posidonia Green Festival and artAmore Sitges.

Preview of the Program of Activities: The program of Sitges ReciclArt is centered on 3 weekends, beginning on June 8, the World Day of the Oceans. Cultural Center Miramar will host Drap-Art Exhibition, from June 8 to July 16, 2017

 14 May, Clean Up Day 2017

“Let’s Clean Up Europe” is an action taken simultaneously throughout Europe to raise awareness about the amount of uncontrolled waste we dump in nature and promotes the collection of this waste illegally thrown away in forests, beaches, river banks, etc.

The fraction of plastics recovered during the Clean Up Day in Sitges will be treated later at CEM premises, and selected, classified and prepared for the collaborative artistic installation that will be created during the SITGES CORPUS CELEBRATION.

• Workshops for children and adults, organized by the Office for Education and Environmental Promotion of the Management for Environmental Services of the Diputació de Barcelona in collaboration with the Consortium of Museums of Sitges.
• Guided visits of the Drap-Art Exhibition.

June 17 and 18

• Installation of a vertical carpet and plastic labyrinth in the Patio of the Cultural Center Miramar with occasion of the Sitges Corpus Celebration. Organized by the Office for Education and Environmental Promotion of the Management for Environmental Services of the Diputació de Barcelona in collaboration with the Sitges Corpus and the Consortium of Museums of Sitges. Participative activity.
• Weaving a Sea of Plastics It consists in producing and installing parasols woven with crochet and plastic thread obtained from recycled plastic bags. In this project there are diverse participants, privateers, non profit organizations and collective groups from Sitges: La Fábrica de Sitges (Sitges Factory), Associació de Dones de Sitges (Womens’ Association of Sitges), Hospital de Sitges (Sitges Hospital), Residencia Las Magnolias (Old Peoples Home The Magnolias), Noies del Garraf (Womens’ Association of the Garraf), Fundació Ave Maria (Ave Maria Foundation).
• Guided visits of the Drap-Art exhibition.
