She lives in Barcelona and since 1993 she regularly exhibits her work in France, Spain, Germany and Belgium. Valérie Blanchard paints those who pass and comes to her eyes, like a photograph, according to her travelling around.
Her paintings represent small daily scenes of the human being, like a sociology study developed using images. She always carries a sketchbook and she draws up paintings on the canvas, as soon as she returns to her workshop.
Her work is full of bright colors, with a “naif” false style and with a note of irony, and numerous details that requires a slow and careful watch from the observer. Her work reminds us of an African-Latin American Botero fusion, but with a personal style that makes her work truly unique.
