artAmore Sitges proudly presents Tropicalia Mediterránea, a solo exhibition by the artist Carlos Rojas, on view from April 26th to May 24th, 2025. The opening will take place on Saturday, April 26th at 12:30 p.m. in the artAmore Sitges’ exhibition space.

In Tropicalia Mediterránea, Rojas immerses us in a world where the warmth of the Caribbean meets the brightness of the Mediterranean. His work is a vibrant fusion of bold colours, flowing forms, and natural patterns that evoke the energy, light, and emotional richness of both regions. Through his singular artistic lens, the artist creates a bridge between two cultures that, despite their geographic distance, share a profound connection.

Born in a small fishing village on the Venezuelan Caribbean coast, Carlos Rojas has built a career spanning over three decades in the art world. His journey has taken him across the Americas, Europe, and Africa, capturing the essence of the places and people he encounters. His work is defined by strong colour palettes and simple forms that effectively convey the identity and spirit of his subjects. Blending poetic realism with a distinctly Latin American aesthetic, his creations are featured in galleries and private collections around the world. Rojas currently lives in Barcelona and exhibits permanently in Venezuela, Amsterdam, and across Spain.

One of the exhibition’s most emblematic works is a collage inspired by the figure of the Mediterranean fisherman, paying tribute to Picasso through the iconic striped sailor shirt. This piece was crafted using cutouts from Rojas’ own Caribbean-themed paintings and finished with a resin coat, enhancing the layered textures and visual interplay.

Tropicalia Mediterránea is an invitation to discover how art can build bridges between cultures, highlighting their similarities and enriching their differences. The exhibition promises to be a sensorial and emotional experience, transporting visitors on a journey of light, colour, and artistic sensitivity.
