We couldn’t be happier. The Miramar Cultural Centre is hosting, from Friday 22nd until May 12th, almost 50 works by our brother Octavi Intente, a retrospective of his artistic career over the last 10 years entitled ‘Films of a frame’.

The exhibition includes paintings and “Dibums’, drawings with a desire for volume that want to come out of the painting”, as Octavi explains. The acrylics on canvas or wood, exhibited in the show, are complemented by a 6-metre mural.

During the opening ceremony, the Mayoress of Sitges stressed that “the exhibition makes visible the artistic talent of Octavi Intente through a work that surprises”. Films of a frame’ is one of the winning proposals of the public competition, called by the Sitges Town Council’s Department of Culture, to be able to exhibit at the Miramar-Cultural Centre”.

The Councillor for Culture, Albert Oliver-Rodés, remarked that “this exhibition is part of the cultural program after going through a participatory process” and added that “the originality of the works by the artist Octavi Intente connects with the spectator and makes them leave the room with a smile on their face.”

Excited by the reception of the exhibition, Octavi Intente explained that “whenever I came to Sitges to see an exhibition at the Miramar, I always had the fantasy of exhibiting one day. It is a space that I have always liked, especially during the day, because it has a special light, like Sitges, and its location, facing the sea, is very unique”.

The title of the exhibition shows that “each painting is a film of a single frame in which each spectator interprets the beginning and the end of a painting, an image or a film”, according to Octavi Intente.

The exhibition ‘Películas de un fotograma’ is on display on the ground floor of the Miramar-Centro Cultural until May 12^th and is the first exhibition included in the program of La Pregonera 2024.
