Valérie Blanchard (Paris 1965)

(Paris 1965) Self-taught painter. She lives in Barcelona and since 1993 she regularly exhibits her work in France, Spain, Germany and Belgium. Valérie Blanchard paints those who pass and comes to her eyes, like a photograph, according to her travelling around.

Her paintings represent small daily scenes of the human being, like a sociology study developed using images. She always carries a sketchbook and she draws up paintings on the canvas, as soon as she returns to her workshop.

Her work is full of bright colors, with a “naif” false style and with a note of irony, and numerous details that requires a slow and careful watch from the observer. Her work reminds us of an African-Latin American Botero fusion, but with a personal style that makes her work truly unique.
